Lisa De Leeuw was a busty redheaded "porn starlet" in every sense of the word during the porn industry's golden age, the late 1970s through the late 1980s. Her large natural bust [1], freckles, and red mane and pubic hair made her a star during the "Golden Age" of theatrically released porn movies. .
Lisa reportedly got into porn at the urging of a boyfriend who managed an X-Rated movie theater.[2] She went on to appear in almost 200 films and was inducted into both the X-Rated Critics' Organization Hall of Fame and the AVN Hall of Fame.[3] She easily and quickly made the transition to videos by the mid 1980's by becoming one of the first "Vivid Girls."[4]
There are rumors that she died of AIDS on November 11, 1993, as media sources such as the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) and numerous other sources also claim. but many in the industry deny the possibility. It has been alleged in numerous sources that she possibly had been infected with the disease by porn star John Holmes. However, the last time she had worked with Holmes was in 1981, and it is believed that he did not contract the disease until the mid 1980s. This claim would have made her the first reported female porn star from porn's golden age period (from about the mid 1970s to the mid/late 1980s) to die from the disease.
