Belladonna was born in Biloxi, Mississippi and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah in a strict Mormon household. Her father was a Bishop in the Mormon Church. Bella is one of 8 children..
Belladonna first got into the industry at 18. She started stripping at a club in Utah but when an agent came and scouted a friend she was invited to join the adventure to Hollywood with them. - She has appeared several times in the reality television series Family Business, which focuses on the life of porn director Adam Glasser a.k.a. "Seymore Butts".
- In 2004 she was one of a number of porn stars photographed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders for a "coffee table book" on the adult industry, XXX: 30 Porn-Star Portraits; she also appears in the HBO documentary Thinking XXX about the making of the book.
- Her career in the pornography business was followed for two years by a crew from ABC Television, culminating in a January 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer as part of a Primetime Thursday segment on pornography. During the interview she broke down in tears. Following its broadcast Belladonna condemned what she felt had been unfair treatment at the hands of Sawyer and the ABC staffers, saying the segment had portrayed her as a victim and that the interview was edited to convey the misleading impression that she had been forced to perform against her will.
